Pavel Wolberg
The series Masquerade is about conflict and about people and communities who are stuck in a local history and became an already-a-representation in a sexual, religious, national-collective themselves and at the same time other to themselves –masks in a Masquerade.
Pavel Wolberg’s work revolves around identity, the illusion of a unified identity and the dismantling fragmentation of identity. He uses the camera to expose the fluctuating moments which capture identity’s fictional, misleading and fantastical, carnivalesque incarnations set against daily life.
