Statement: In "Flatland" series, upon which he embarked after being inspired by Edwin Abbat's "Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions", Büyüktaş composes a surprising dimension that creates a space within a space. Transforming spaces that do not even attract our attention but nonetheless constitute our memory, the artist proposes a new idea that demolishes the all-encompassing perceptions of space. In these works, Büyüktaş intends to leave the spectator with an ironic, multi-faceted and romantic vision, alongside a surprising vision.
Born in 1972 in Ankara, Büyüktaş left Bilkent University Department of Tourism Management, as it did not suit his aspirations. Settling in İstanbul in 2000s, Developing himself in the fields of visual effects, 3D, animation and video, Büyüktaş contributed in numerous award-winning feature films and advertisement campaigns as an employee of leading firms of the industry, such as Sinefekt and Makinefx. Following the international popularity of one of his 3D characters designed in 2008, he began to incline heavily on freelance works. With a simultaneous interest in photography, Büyüktaş pursues his academic education at the Department of Photography in Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts since 2012.
